In 1915 when our house was built, two small sconces were enough to light a whole living room. That doesn't quite cut it anymore.
The ceiling is exposed beam with no cavities to run wiring or install can lights (recessed lights) so I had to get creative. Luckily LEDs have really changed the concept of lighting. Working with Annapolis Lighting, I purchased four strips of GM Lighting 24VDC LED tape and installed them in aluminum channels with acrylic covers. I bought some shielded 2 conductor with ground wire from McMaster-Carr and three integrated power supply/dimmers from GM Lighting.
The lights produce perfectly even light with minimal shadows throughout the room. Also, the dimmers work perfectly with no flicker or buzz and they can dim down until you can barely even see the LEDs.
Overall, this was a successful project!
